Badger Notes
Your Badger Notes account provides real-time access to your maternity records over the internet through a PC, tablet device or smartphone.
The information is generated from the hospital’s maternity system using details entered by a midwife or other health professional. This includes blood test results, reminders about appointments, leaflets and other helpful resources.
The app also allows pregnant women and people to add information about their preferred birth plan and flag up any allergies or relevant health issues prior to an appointment.
Users also have the chance to add photos and diary entries, creating a lasting record of their pregnancy and baby’s journey.
As well as empowering you to feel more involved in their care, the app provides a valuable resource for their healthcare team by creating an easily accessible record of their medical and personal information.
What are the benefits?
Alice Butler, our Lead Digital Midwife, said: “The BadgerNet app is a fantastic tool for both mothers and healthcare workers, bringing our maternity services forward into the 21st century and enhancing accessibility and data security”.
Since it launched in June 2018, we have received lots of positive feedback from women telling us it helps them to feel more fully informed about their pregnancy and care.
Going digital also brings lots of advantages for staff, such as reducing the need for duplication and carrying bulky maternity notes. It also helps us to gain a greater understanding of the women in our care – not only medically, but also personally through the comments that they can make through the app.
Mum-to-be, Judith Tuck, said: “It’s great having all the information I need in one place and the app means I can easily check it anywhere, such as on the bus on the way to work.
When it’s your first baby, there can seem a lot of information out there to think about and having it all on an app that you can keep going back to, is really useful.
I haven’t decided on my birth plan yet, but the app is encouraging me to think about it and I can add comments that will then be shared with my midwife.”
