About Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC)
Blaydon Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) is open for walk-in appointments – providing a quick and easy place to get help for minor injuries in Gateshead.

You can walk-in for treatment at Blaydon, no appointment needed.
Our urgent treatment centre offers an alternative to the emergency department (A&E) for a range of minor injuries and illnesses.
You should always call 999 or attend an A&E department if someone is seriously ill or injured, or their life is at risk, such as heart attack, breathing difficulties, stroke, chest pains or serious injury.
For minor health problems such as coughs & colds you can obtain advice and over-the-counter treatments from a pharmacist.
Staff are on hand to help you with the following conditions: ·
- sprains and strains
- suspected broken limbs
- minor head injuries
- cuts and grazes
- bites and stings
- minor scalds and burns
- skin infections and rashes
- eye problems
- emergency contraception
Blaydon UTC is open 8:00am – 9:00pm, seven days a week.
One of our main priorities at this time is to keep patients and staff safe, so COVID-19 restrictions will apply at the UTC. Patients attending will need to wear appropriate face coverings, should follow good hand hygiene and social distancing, and cannot be accompanied unless they are a child who needs an adult with them – or they have other special needs.
