Antenatal care
We have a dedicated Antenatal Bay on our Antenatal-Postnatal Ward consisting of 3 beds for antenatal women who may be admitted to hospital for a short or long stay with access to modern bathroom facilities.
During this stay you will be assigned a named midwife on each shift to care for you and you will be reviewed by a Consultant led team each morning (or more regularly if necessary).
Together we will make a plan of how we care for you and your pregnancy during your stay with us.
Postnatal care
Each bed on our 16 bed ward has a bedside cot and direct access to modern bathroom facilities and you will be allocated a named midwife on each shift to care for you and your baby.
There are 4 single rooms with ensuite facilities with the option for your birthing partner to stay overnight however due to the limited number these may need to be allocated based on clinical need basis.
Please discuss this with your midwife after your baby is born and we will do our best to accommodate this where possible. There is access to a visitor’s toilet as well as a fantastic jungle theme day room to help the family bond in a relaxed environment when siblings visit.
Transitional care
Transitional care is provided to those infants who are well enough to stay with their mothers on the postnatal ward but who may need some additional support and care following birth such as those born prematurely, small or needing antibiotics.
This care is provided by our fantastic team of Midwifery Support Workers, Advanced Neonatal Practitioners, Midwives and Paediatricians and our main aim is to provide good safe care whilst keeping mothers and babies together where possible.
