About our service
The emergency care physiotherapy team provides assessment and treatment to patients who attend the Emergency Care Centre at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. Our staff provide services to accident and emergency, urgent treatment centre, same day emergency care (S.D.E.C), emergency admissions units and acute frailty services.
The team is comprised of physiotherapists and support staff who work closely with the multidisciplinary team to enable timely discharge and avoid unnecessary admissions to hospital. We also aim to provide early physiotherapy intervention to promote independence and restore physical function to patients who may be admitted to hospital.
We treat a broad range of conditions which includes:
- Falls
- Mobility problems
- Social problems
- Fractures
- People struggling to cope at home
If based on your assessment you require further treatment, the team will be able to refer and signpost you to other physiotherapy services in the community. This includes falls and syncope services, gait, strength and balance classes and rapid response physiotherapy services in the local area.
