About our service
The Elderly Care and Medicine physiotherapy team are dedicated to the treatment and care of elderly members of the population and those that are clinically unwell across several wards at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. The physiotherapists have specialist skills and expert knowledge in conditions such as Dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Delirium, Frailty and Falls.
Services we offer:
The team works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide a holistic approach to care, to ensure that all care needs are considered and met.
Our physiotherapists assess posture, movement and function to facilitate and motivate individuals to maintain independence and quality of life. In addition, our team provides education and advice to ensure that confidence and safety is optimised, prior to returning home.
Physiotherapists also assess the use and necessity of walking aids, stand aids and complete stair/step assessments to ensure the safety of movement and accessibility around one’s home.
Additionally, our team also provides physiotherapy input for Cragside and Sunniside mental health inpatient wards.
