Read some stories from our staff who explain why they enjoy working here and what they love about their job.

Ashley Jackson
Nurse practitioner“I absolutely love my job, I love everything about it! It feels great to be able to help take pressures off the hospital while helping patients to stay where they want to be, in their home. It’s lovely to see patients in their own environment and meet their families.
It’s a lovely team, everyone is friendly and approachable.”

Lauren Stephenson
Radiology support worker“The QE has been part of my life from a young age. My mam worked here from the age of 16, starting as a nurse cadet and working at Gateshead right up until she retired almost 10 years ago. I am proud to work in such a friendly hospital, and we both hope that the Queen Elizabeth Hospital will continue to remain a part of our lives in the future.”

Helen Larkin
Modern matron“Being a modern matron is a hard job, and has its challenges like most jobs! But overall it has been really enjoyable. I get to meet different people and help others to access learning and development opportunities.
I absolutely love it, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done. I loved my previous jobs but I’m the happiest I’ve ever been in my career and it’s been such an amazing opportunity.”
