A video consultation gives you all the security and confidentiality of an in-person appointment, as well as the same high standards of care, but also provides the convenience of not having to travel to hospital.
Through a secure, online service, you attend an appointment with your clinician from the comfort of your own home or in a quiet and private space within your place of work.
You use a smartphone, tablet, or laptop with a webcam and the Google Chrome or Safari web browsers to access your online video appointment.
The video appointment will be part of the clinician’s rota and day to day routine and will be conducted in the same way as an appointment in person would be.
Before your appointment begins, you will be in an online waiting area which shows where you are in the queue and your clinician will join you when he or she is ready to start your appointment.
If you need another appointment or any follow up treatment, this will be arranged for you exactly as it would have been if you had attended the appointment in person.
What do you need?
To attend a video consultation online, you will need:
- A smartphone with access to the internet
- A tablet with access to the internet
- A laptop with a camera, microphone and speakers, plus optional headphones.
Whether you use Apple Safari or Google Chrome as your web browser, you will be able to access the service.
