We are QE Charitable Funds Gateshead and we’re at the heart of the Gateshead community.

Every year, generous supporters – some of whom have experienced care at our hospitals for themselves or have loved ones who have been our patients – donate thousands of pounds to help improve the care our future patients receive.
The money we raise is also used to improve the environment in our hospitals for staff, patients and their relatives. It enables us to provide a more welcoming, comfortable space, in addition to the latest technology modern medicine has to offer, across the healthcare settings within the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
Our overall aim is to improve our patients’ experiences and make our hospital and primary care centres great places in which our staff can work.
Sometimes, the funds we raise go towards staff training that is over and above what can be learned in college or university, and this can make a huge, positive difference to the care we can provide.
Funds may also be put towards research into certain treatments or conditions that we are involved with.
We welcome donations to specific wards, units or research projects if fundraisers care to specify exactly where they want their donation to go.
Otherwise, we will use donations in the best way we see fit to benefit our patients, staff and visitors.
Our registered charity number
QE Gateshead Charitable Funds is a registered charity, number 1086145.
We are very grateful to have received legacies from the wills of former patients and supporters. We use this money and our other donations to pay for those things that are above and beyond the training and equipment that NHS funding provides.
Why we need your support
The donations we receive at QE Charitable Funds Gateshead enable us to make life more comfortable for our patients, visitors and staff.

Of course, the Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust receives NHS funding for medical equipment and the basics needed to provide the care our patients require.
But with your money, we can enhance the environment in which our patients are treated and improve the quality of the care we provide.
Donate nowWe can make our wards brighter places to stay and provide facilities and items to make life in hospital more comfortable for both patients and visitors.
We can send our staff on new training courses to enhance the quality of care that they provide – and also reward them for their efforts through our staff health and wellbeing fund.
We can take part in vital research into certain conditions and treatments, in the hope that this will improve the way we are able to help and support our patients in their treatment and recovery now and in the future.
Thanks to the generous donations we receive, we’re able to make life a little bit easier and more comfortable for our patients, visitors and staff, whether that’s by providing new medical equipment not available with NHS funds or making our wards brighter places to be.

We can also make better use of the space we have available so that patient care becomes more efficient and staff are happier in their working environment.
We can also deliver more care closer to people’s homes by supporting our community staff and primary care centres with everything they need.
Our ambition
We want to help make patient care in the Gateshead area the best that it can possibly be – now and in the future.
With your help, we can:
- Buy the latest, cutting-edge equipment to help diagnose and treat various conditions
- Help keep our staff up to date on the latest advances in medicine and patient care through training
- Make our wards and patient care facilities brighter and more comfortable places to be
Thank you so much to our dedicated fundraisers who make all of this possible!
