Gateshead Health became the first NHS Trust in the region to offer free Wi-fi internet access for patients and visitors using the wards or public areas.
Our patients and visitors can connect their smartphones and tablets wirelessly and free-of-charge while being cared for in hospital or visiting loved ones.
This is one of the ways in which we provide an excellent patient experience and shape our services around our patients’ and visitors’ needs.
We recognise that internet access is such an important part of modern life and it can help our patients find directions, access healthcare information, get details about public transport and stay connected while they wait for appointments.
It also helps patients who need to stay in hospital keep in touch with family, friends and loved ones during what can often be a stressful and anxious time.
