About the service
Our Urology Unit is based on level one of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, close to the main entrance and it is very clearly signposted. Common urology problems include:
- Enlargement of the prostate
- Kidney stones
- Incontinence
- Erectile difficulties
- Male infertility
Services we offer
Our unit offers investigations and assessment for all kinds of urological conditiions, both by the Urology Consultants and the Specialist Urology Nurses. We provide day case surgery, outpatients clinics, clinics for the investigation of both microscopic and macroscopic haematuria and for Trans-rectal Ultrasounds and prostate biopsy.
The consultants work between the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and the QE. After initial assessment some patients may require more specialised investigation or surgery and willl be referred to the Freeman Hospital for this. Following surgery or investigation patients will be seen in the outpatients clinics here at the QE.
