- Enlargement of the prostate
- Kidney stones
- Erectile difficulties
- Male infertility
Services we offer
Our unit offers investigations and assessment for all kinds of urological conditiions, both by the Urology Consultants and the Specialist Urology Nurses. We provide day case surgery, outpatients clinics, clinics for the investigation of both microscopic and macroscopic haematuria and for Trans-rectal Ultrasounds and prostate biopsy.
The consultants work between the Freeman Hospital in Newcastle and the QE. After initial assessment some patients may require more specialised investigation or surgery and willl be referred to the Freeman Hospital for this. Following surgery or investigation patients will be seen in the outpatients clinics here at the QE.
Patients can be referred to our urology service in a number of ways:
- Choose and book
- Letter requesting appointment
- Two week wait referral pathway – proforma to be sent
- Via other specialties if deemed urgent
- Advice and guidance available via email (pilot study)
We accept referrals from all regions after review of the referral letter, to ensure that the best and most appropriate care is provided for the patients.
