About the service
We are a nurse-led unit that is staffed by specialist chemotherapy nurses. As well as administering chemotherapy, our nurses provide advice and support you on the different steps of your treatment journey.
We also treat a small number of heamatology patients who have hematological diagnosis which is to be managed with chemotherapy. As well as a small number of gastroenterology/rheumatology patients.
The chemotherapy day unit also hosts the 24-hour, seven days a week access helpline for use by patients referred to the chemotherapy day unit for treatment. We are able to provide a range of supportive therapies and have close working links with specialist nursing teams, oncologists, heamatologists, acute oncology service and other members of the wider multi-disciplinary teams.
Service opening times
The chemotherapy day unit is based at the Tranwell unit at the QE Hospital. The service is open Monday – Friday, between 8am – 8pm.
