Who is the specialist palliative care team?
We are a team of specialist staff members who care for patients, families and carers. We work Monday to Friday 9am—5pm and are based above St Bede’s Palliative Care Unit.
We consist of two teams, they are.
Specialist Palliative Care Team
Macmillan Hospice at Home Team
You have been referred to one of the teams by the staff currently caring for you, and this should have been discussed with you. This may be to support you with difficult symptoms you are experiencing such as pain or nausea and vomiting, psychological care or support for complex needs.
We visit people in their own home, care homes, hospital wards and departments and care environments such as assisted living homes.
This can feel quite a scary time, but you are not alone. The staff are here to support, listen and advise you. If they can’t help, they will try to find the person or staff member.

The Macmillan Hospice at Home Team
The Hospice at Home team consists of:
- Nurses Coordinators
- Health Care Assistants

There will be multiple staff members caring for you and they will tell you, their names.
