A patient who has undergone hip replacement surgery at Gateshead Health, shares their experience after treatment at the Peter Smith Surgery Centre:
Almost three years later my quality of life is still improving after the work you successfully carried out on both my hips. I have been doing gentle walking (four to five miles) on level surfaces.
The particular reason that I felt you needed to know about, is that I have been gradually been able to increase my independence as a result of your work.
It started with a simple thing as the ability to walk into the village (only a couple of miles) to visit the barbers.
The biggest impact and improvement has occurred more recently as I started in April getting the bus into Newcastle, and walking up to the Newcastle Foundation where I take part in walking football for Dementia and brain injury patients. This has been a revelation to me and I thoroughly enjoy it, which would not have been possible without your skill and success with my hip replacements.
Words seem an inadequate way to express my thanks for what you have done for me and the future years of enjoyment you have made possible.
