NHS staff took part in a regional fundraising event over the weekend and raised over £10,000 to help transform cancer services in Gateshead.
Eight teams made up of staff from across Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust participated in an inflatable assault course in Darlington as part of a fundraising effort for QE Charitable Funds, the hospital’s charity.
All money raised will help fund improvements to facilities, the environment, equipment, and therapies that we can offer to our patients in the Trust’s new cancer centre. This will make sure that their journey is as comfortable and supportive as possible.
The charity event included a range of games on an inflatable assault course including a relay, the cannon run, a foam pit, and a beat the cube challenge.
Each team set up their own fundraising page on JustGiving and raised money through cake sales, tombolas, and reaching out to friends and family for donations.
Clare King, charity manager said, “I would like to say a big thank you to all eight teams who took part in the We’re a Knockout event it was such a fantastic day of fun, and a huge thank you to everyone who has sponsored and donated in support of this amazing cause which helped us to smash our £10k target.”
The total raised via JustGiving only was an outstanding £10,831.00 with more funds to still be added.
There is still time to donate, please visit JustGiving to help continue the fundraising for the new cancer centre at Gateshead.
