Molly’s leap of faith in her mother’s memory

Over £3,000 raised for QE Charitable funds

Molly Hughes completed an extraordinary 15,000 ft skydive in June in memory of her mother, Tricia Hughes raising over £3,000 for QE Charitable Funds. This skydive is a monumental occasion as it marks the first-year anniversary since Tricia, unfortunately, lost her battle against Ovarian Cancer.

The St Bede’s Unit was chosen by Molly to support their ongoing incredible work in the end-of-life unit. This donation allows the unit to provide a loving and comforting environment for families going through the difficult time of losing a loved one, just as Molly and her family did. A range of care and support will be offered with the help of the donations, such as refurbished areas, care packages, events for families and many more. Molly’s fantastic work will contribute massively to achieving these goals in and continuing the wonderful work St Bede’s does.

Molly raised the money to say thanks for the magnificent care her mother received in her last moments. After the jump, Molly said, “Well I did it! I jumped 15,000 feet in your memory mam! It was the most incredible experience, maybe not the most glamorous! I want to thank everyone for their donations and support. I am eternally grateful to those who helped me to raise £3,265 for St Bede’s Hospice at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. I know how much this money will help their amazing staff, those they care for and their families.”

Keely Taylor, Ward Manger at St Bede’s Palliative Care Unit, also gave their thanks “Congratulations to Molly on this amazing achievement in memory of her mam. On behalf of the St Bede’s Team, I would like to say thank you for your fundraising efforts. This will allow the team to continue to support our patients to make sure that they are as comfortable and supported as possible during their time with us. Without amazing individuals like Molly, this would not be possible”.
