Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No its Nadeem’s sky dive for Gateshead Health Charity

Nadeem took the leap from 15,000 ft in the air in support of Gateshead Health Charity raising £2880 for the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). He completed the skydive on 25 November, a cold and windy day, but that did not stop him.

Nadeem attended the NHS 75th birthday open day where he learned about various services including SCBU. He met the staff and was impressed with the work they do in providing care for premature and sick new-born infants. Nadeem was touched hearing about SCBU’s services, he went on to create a network of individuals who had been positively affected by SCBU.

The SCBU team also supports midwives and parents in caring for babies with extra needs in the postnatal ward. This helps to prevent mothers and babies from being separated unnecessarily. Nadeem wanted to support SCBU in any way he could, deciding to skydive to support the team in funding new equipment. The SCBU team was incredibly thankful for Nadeem’s support.

Nadeem said, “I wasn’t frightened, but I was feeling anxious. I’m really glad to have done the skydive for such an important cause and it was a great experience. The views were beautiful but I’m happy to be back on the ground. I want to say a huge thank you to the SCBU team for the work they have done and continue to do. I also want to say a huge thank you to everyone who supported me, especially my daughter”.
