International Day of the Midwife is celebrated on 5 May every year to recognise the contribution of midwives to the healthcare system. The day is an opportunity to celebrate the vital role of midwives in ensuring safe childbirth and improving maternal and newborn health.
To mark this particular day, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is proud to share a four-minute video featuring a range of midwives and matrons who work at the maternity unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. The video highlights the dedication and commitment of these healthcare professionals to provide quality care to mothers and their babies.
We also hear from Karen Parker, the Head of Midwifery at Gateshead Health’s Maternity unit.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the midwives and staff of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead for their unwavering dedication, commitment, and compassion. Their hard work and expertise have transformed the lives of countless mothers and babies from around the region and beyond.
