Gateshead Health specialist shares expertise on national cervical cancer prevention

Sharon Denise Clark, Joint Colposcopy Service Lead and Lead Nurse for Colposcopy at Gateshead Health, has been sharing her expertise nationally, helping to raise awareness of cervical cancer prevention and the importance of making screening more accessible.

Sharon recently featured in an NHS England podcast, Cervical cancer prevention – how do we make care accessible to all?, exploring how barriers to screening can be addressed and more people encouraged to take part.

She also spoke to BBC Radio Newcastle about the national introduction of cervical screening self-sampling and presented at the NHS Confederation conference in Manchester in June, discussing the national ambition to eliminate cervical cancer.

Sharon said: “Making cervical screening more accessible is an important step towards eliminating cervical cancer. It’s been a privilege to contribute to these national conversations and share how we can help more women access the care and screening they need.”

This work supports Gateshead Health’s strategic focus on women’s health and improving access to preventative care.
