Gateshead Health endoscopy team receive JAG accreditation for five years

We are delighted that our endoscopy department has received JAG (Joint Advisory Group) accreditation after a recent review of the service.

JAG accreditation is awarded to endoscopy services that have demonstrated they meet best practice quality standards. The standards have been developed with a multi-professional group of clinicians, managers, and patients to create a service that improves patient experience.

Sophie Whittock, Staff Nurse in Endoscopy said, “We are really proud to get the accreditation, all departments such as decon, admin, and endoscopists have contributed to the success of the service keeping patient care at the forefront.”

The team will have to submit evidence annually to demonstrate that they are continuing to meet the standards and have a 5-yearly on-site assessment carried out. The past few months have involved a lot of hard work, one of the endoscopists said, “It’s great that the hard work has been recognised that the whole team has contributed to.”

In the report, assessors commented that our endoscopy services “Must be commended for completing a range of actions within a timely manner. There have been significant improvements to the patient journey and waiting times. The management and clinical team have increased capacity and proactively recruited to a number of roles that have increased utilisation and will support future demand.”

With this accreditation, we are ensuring that our patients receive a high standard of care when they come to our endoscopy department.

Well done to the whole team for this achievement and for your hard work during the accreditation process and beyond.
