Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Trudie Davies as their new Chief Executive. Trudie brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge, having worked in the NHS for over 30 years. She is currently Deputy Chief Executive and Chief Operating Officer at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
For more than nine years, Trudie has held several leadership positions in the NHS. She originally trained as a nurse, holding roles at Leeds Teaching Hospital and Leicester Royal Infirmary. In 2003, Trudie moved to service improvement and then three years later assumed the role of operational manager for trauma and orthopaedics. Subsequently, she took up senior management positions in medicine and accident and emergency, all whilst working at Leeds. Trudie has previously served for three years as an assistant director of operations at Leeds Teaching Hospital prior to joining Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2016. Since then, she has been working in her current capacity as the Chief Operating Officer and latterly as Deputy Chief Executive with additional roles for system leadership in both planned and unplanned care.
Trudie will be responsible for leading Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, providing direction to ensure the continued delivery of high quality, patient-centred care. She will be replacing Yvonne Ormston MBE who is retiring in March 2023.
Trudie expressed her enthusiasm for joining the trust, saying: “I’m thrilled to continue my NHS journey in Gateshead and become the new chief executive. I have a strong dedication to improving patient care and look forward to working with staff, patients and partners of the region to continue providing excellent care for those in need.”
Trudie believes that the trust has started on a journey to further increase its partnership working and her commitment will be to lead the organisation with vision and clarity towards a common goal of achieving success. She continued: “I will continue to do this through developing trusted relationships, being inclusive and respectful of others and ensuring that as a good partner, the standard of care delivered within the hospital and within Gateshead’s community remain high.”
The Chair of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust, Alison Marshall said: “We are excited to have Trudie joining us as our new Chief Executive. We undertook a rigorous selection process, and throughout Trudie demonstrated her inspiring leadership style, her integrity and authenticity. She has a vast amount of experience and expertise, having devoted the last 30 years to the NHS, and I’m sure she will help us to achieve our strategic aims based around our patients, people and partners.”
