Bowman Coates, a coach at Felling Magpies Football Club, hosted the club’s second charity football match on Saturday, 24 August 2024.
The event featured a friendly but competitive game between the Felling Magpies coaches and the parents of the young players.
The day was a huge success, bringing together families and the community to support the club and raise an incredible £859.50. These funds will greatly benefit Gateshead Health Charity in support of the Chemo Day Unit, as well as the 4Louis Charity.
A big congratulations to everyone who participated in the match, with a special shoutout to the coaches, who claimed victory with an impressive 8-2 win, lifting the winner’s trophy in style.
But Bowman isn’t stopping there. He’s used this match as part of his preparation for the upcoming Great North Run, where he plans to take on the iconic race to raise even more funds for Gateshead Health Charity, specifically to support the Chemo Day Unit.
Bowman shared his motivation, saying:
I’ve decided to challenge myself this year by taking part in the Great North Run to raise money for the Chemo Unit at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead. This team has gone above and beyond for my family, and it’s a cause very close to our hearts. I’ll be running in memory of my aunties and uncle, who sadly lost their battles with cancer, and in honour of the treatment my mam received after her diagnosis. Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to me and help me reach my fundraising goal. Thank you for your support.
