Family knits together to keep babies warm

Julie Coyle and her mum have knitted beautiful blankets, cardigans and hats for the babies on our Maternity Unit.

Julie’s son Mark, who is autistic and has learning difficulties, is so proud to be helping the newborn babies. Julie said “Mark wanted to come and hand deliver the knitted baby items as he loves to help others, he feels proud we are all helping and was happy to meet a member of the maternity team to hand these over.”

Julie found some letters sent to her grandmother by the Maternity Unit thanking her for a donation of knitted baby clothes and hats, which the family were delighted to read. One excerpt reads ‘They help to make the babies look very cosy and the pretty colours brighten up the rooms.’

A very big thank you to Julie and her family.
