Congratulations to Michael Rudge, Lead Pharmacy Technician of Medicines Optimisation who has recently been selected as one of the 20 award winners at the apprenticeship awards hosted by Derwentside College.
The Trust submitted five nomination entries and following a detailed panel assessment, Michael received his award at the awards dinner on Thursday 5th May 2022.
Michael is currently undertaking the Level 5 Operations and Departmental Manager apprenticeship and was recently nominated by his manager, Denise Taylor.
The nomination said: “Michael is a very conscientious and dedicated member of our Inpatient Pharmacy team here at Gateshead. He is very loyal to his department and has progressed within the team demonstrating his ambition and passion for the role of a Pharmacy Technician.
Michael has had an interesting journey in his career and started as a Band 2 Assistant Technical Officer working in the Hospital Pharmacy store at 16 years old and has progressed to his current Band 6 post which includes managing a team of 12 Band 5 Technicians delivering a clinical ward service. By undertaking this apprenticeship, he has found this extremely beneficial and is learning skills that will benefit him in his current role and any future roles he will undertake.”
