Gateshead Health Charity was delighted to welcome some of our youngest and most determined supporters to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital this week.
After completing the AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run in September, these inspiring young fundraisers were invited into the QE where they were presented with cheques for the money they raised, and witnessed first-hand how their fundraising is making a difference for patients and families in Gateshead.
Ryder Hodgson
Ryder took on the Junior & Mini Great North for the very first time, raising an amazing £375 for the Charity.
He was shown around the Peadiatrics department by Wendy Oliver, Senior Nursery Nurse, and had a fantastic time exploring equipment funded by previous donations – including a VR headset, 3D TV, and touch table games centre.
Ryder has already signed up for the 2027 event, where he’ll be running for Paediatrics and Cancer Services.

Leon and Miles Marriner
Brothers Leon and Miles raised an impressive £590 for the Chemo Day Unit. They were walmly congratulated by staff, with Chief Operating Officer Sheena Fish also present to show her support and gratitude.

Poppy and Phoebe Quinn
Poppy and Phoebe Quinn also ran for the Chemo Day Unit, raising a whopping £615.
Gateshead’s Group Chief Nurse, Beth Swanson, joined the celebration to thank the girls for their brilliant efforts.

Emma Little
Emma Little raised a superb £850 in support of Critical Care.
Kris Mackenzie, Group Director of Finance, was in attendance to thank Emma for her hardwork.

A huge thank you to Ryder, Leon, Miles, Poppy, Phoebe and Emma – and to every family member and friend who supported them.
Your hard work, determination, and generosity are helping us provide better care and brighter experiences for our patients right here in Gateshead.
You’re all stars!
