Gateshead Health stands down the critical incident following the IT system disruption: Announcements

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to confirm that it is no longer in a critical incident response following the reinstatement of the Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS).

PACS is used throughout the hospital to view diagnostic images such as x-rays, CT scans, and MRI scans, and it plays a vital role in supporting safe, effective patient care.

Thanks to the hard work of our staff and close collaboration with partners and suppliers, system functionality has now been restored and is in operational use across the organisation. This means that we are no longer in a critical incident.

We would like to thank our patients, staff, and partners for their understanding and professionalism throughout this disruption.

Joanne Halliwell, Group Chief Operating Officer, said:

“Our digital, clinical and operational teams have worked tirelessly to restore our PACS system. As a consequence, we are no longer in a critical incident response. This means that we are focused on recovery, which includes rebooking appointments that we unfortunately had to cancel and restarting services that we had to pause.

“We want to send our sincerest apologies to any patients who may have been impacted. We are incredibly grateful to our staff for their hard work and to everyone who has supported us to resolve this situation.”
