Congratulations to Specialist Breast Care Nurse Caroline Tweedie who won the Innovation Champion Award at this year’s Bright Ideas in Health Awards 2023 ceremony on March 23 at the Hilton Hotel Newcastle Gateshead.
The award on the night was given out as a joint winner with Specialist Lead Midwife, Charlotte Mutton from Sunderland and South Tyneside.
Caroline was nominated for her work in launching a cancer series podcast to help women through their journey of cancer during the covid pandemic. The series of podcasts help patients find advice on issues surrounding lifestyle changes, real-life experiences as well as new research and developments.
Innovation manager Conor O’Neill said “I nominated Caroline for this award for her extraordinary inventiveness in bringing cancer support to patients and their families both during and after the covid-19 pandemic.
“Through the delivery of hugely successful virtual clinics, to over 40 cancer podcasts available to stream on Spotify, Caroline has demonstrated time and time again her dedication to patient care and her unrelenting passion to support those affected by cancer.”
Caroline Tweedie said “I am overwhelmed with this award and delighted to have even been nominated. I hope this award helps recognise the importance of what support means to patients and their families and by talking to professionals, patients and each other on these podcasts, we can open conversations on cancer and get more people talking.
“I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who is and has been involved to make these podcasts a success including Ebony Colledge from Communications and Innovation Manager Conor O’Neill. It has been one big team effort and I am excited to see what the future holds in cancer services.”
Congratulations Caroline on your award.
