Mr Tumia is an orthopaedic consultant surgeon with a specialist interest in hip and knee surgery at the QEH
Mr Tumia has more than 25 years experience in trauma and orthopaedic surgery in the UK. He completed his higher specialty training in Aberdeen after finishing a degree of MD (Doctorate of Medicine) in research on cartilage regeneration. He has published and presented many papers in topics related to the hip, the knee and also wound infection.
Mr Tumia travelled to Toronto to work in the renowned St Michaels Hospital for a fellowship in complex hip and knee joint reconstruction. He carried out a large number of knee and hip arthroplasty surgery achieving high patient satisfaction.
Mr Tumia’s goal is to help each of his patients return to an active, pain-free lifestyle. He combines the latest techniques with well proven methods to provide his patients with the best orthopaedic care possible.

Special Interests
In the hip, Mr Tumia is interested is in the primary and revision (re-do) reconstruction arthroplasty of the hip and knee joint. He is also interested in hip arthroscopy (keyhole surgery) in dealing with sports related hip disorders.
In the knee, Mr Tumia is interested in the different types of partial knee replacements including the patellofemoral joint (the knee cap). Knee arthroscopy surgery (keyhole surgery) includes meniscal cartilage repair, meniscal trimming and chondroplasty.
