Dr Christian Harknesse is a consultant in paediatric immunology and infectious diseases who graduated in Medicine from Humboldt University Berlin, Germany.
He went on to train in general paediatrics, immunology and infectious diseases in the UK and has a PhD in immunogenetics, a masters degree in infectious diseases, postgraduate diplomas in tropical medicine and mountain medicine, and a postgraduate certificate in medical education.
Dr Harkensee received general paediatric training in Liverpool and Newcastle, and subspeciality training in paediatric immunology and infectious diseases in London. He has worked as a consultant in Singapore and the North East of England.
Special Interests
Dr Harknesse’s clinical interests include general paediatrics, infectious diseases, immunology and migrant health. Dr Harknesse contributes active research to these fields.
He also has an interest in medical education, coaching and staff wellbeing. He volunteers for humanitarian work as a member of the UK Emergency Medical Team and as a mountain and expedition doctor.
