We are delighted to invite our staff and public members, alongside any members of the public who wish to join us, to our first Medicine for Members event on Monday 4 December 6:00pm to 8:00pm.
Come along and find out more about our fantastic research and development team and how the work that they do has a direct and positive impact on the care we provide to our patients.
There will be an opportunity to meet informally with the Trust’s Governors from 6.00pm and for any guests to sign up to Foundation Trust membership. Our Governors represent the interests of members, the public and our staff and they are really interested in meeting with you to hear your views on the Trust and our services.
Following this at 7.00pm, Alison Harvey, Head of Research and Development, will provide an informative and interactive presentation on research and development. The presentation will outline why we carry out research within the Trust, discussing various trials that have been successful and those that have not shown any benefit to patients – but are essential to prove what works and what doesn’t. We will highlight the Recovery Urgent Public Health trial which led to a change in the way we treated COVID-19 in the early days.
We will also look at how we plan to further develop research at Gateshead, focusing on the future studies that we will offer patients, as well as getting more patients and staff involved in research.
Refreshments will be provided alongside free onsite parking if you pre-register your vehicle with us (which you can do when reserving a space through Eventbrite). Further information on the exact location of the event and the reserved parking will be available on registration.
To join us please click ‘reserve a spot’ on this Eventbrite page.
