Miles with meaning: Supporting Gateshead Health Charity in the iconic Great North Run 2025

Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust is proud to announce a record number of participants in this year’s AJ Bell Great North Run events, with 56 runners taking part to raise vital funds for the charity.

By joining tens of thousands of runners, the Gateshead team came together to raise almost £18,000 helping to fund projects that directly benefit patients and staff at Gateshead Health.

This marks the highest number of fundraisers the charity has ever seen for the event, highlighting the incredible support from staff, patients, and members of the local community. Their dedication reflects a shared commitment to supporting Gateshead’s NHS services and improving the health and wellbeing of people across the region.

Clare Drummond, Charity Manager comments on the day “The Great North Run is always a fantastic occasion, and we’re incredibly proud of everyone who took part to support our charity this year.

From running in memory of a loved one, to showing appreciation for care received, or just wanting to give something back. Each runner has played a part in making a real difference. Their efforts help us fund cutting-edge technology and state-of-the-art equipment, enhance patient spaces, fund advanced training for our staff, and invest in staff wellbeing.”

Thank you to every runner for your commitment, resilience, and fundraising achievements. Each mile they covered brings us closer to enhancing care and making a meaningful difference for the patients, families, and communities we serve.
