For the patients of the future
At Gateshead Health we are always keen to pursue new research which can benefit current or future patients and improve and inform clinical practice.
With the support of the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN), the number of new studies delivered in and through the NHS has increased, with patients having much greater and easier access to research opportunities.
Performance in Initiating & Delivering (PID) Clinical Research
Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust supports the national aim (outlined in the Government’s Plan for Growth and implemented by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR)) to increase the number of patients who have the opportunity to participate in research, as well as enhancing the nation’s attractiveness as a host for research.
Initiating Clinical Trials
The national target for clinical trials is that each trial should recruit the first patient within 70 days from the date an NHS organisation receives a valid research application.
Performance information on the clinical trials hosted by Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust can be viewed here:
Delivering Commercial Research
The national target for commercial contract research is that every commercial trial is delivered within the time agreed with the Sponsor and that the target number of patients to be recruited is also achieved.
