QE Charitable Funds is remembering and celebrating loved ones during the festive season with our tree of stars. This year, the tree outside the main entrance to the Queen Elizabeth (QE) Hospital Gateshead, has been dedicated to 100 loved ones who have passed away and whose friends or relatives have gifted a star in their name.
The stars will decorate our tree as a tribute to people who are no longer with us, while the lights will remind us to celebrate how they lit up our lives – leading to our Light up a Life event.
This is a chance for staff, patients, family and friends to remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones who have died. Everyone who has a star dedicated in their name will be remembered at our remembrance event and their names, photos and messages from loved will be featured in our online tribute.
Join us for the first ever Light up a Life service on Thursday 30 November 2023 at 6pm at the main entrance of the QE Hospital.
QE Charitable Funds wants to bring together the Gateshead community to join us in remembering the loved ones we have lost. By making a donation in a loved one’s name they help the charity to invest in Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust’s environment, resources and services, making things a little more comfortable for staff, patients and their relatives.
At the event we’ll hear from Trudie Davies, Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust’s Chief Executive, Kris Mackenzie, Group Director of Finance and Digital and Charity Executive lead and Gareth Rowlands one of the Trust’s chaplains to lead the service. The Trust choir will be on hand to entertain us with uplifting music to help us to celebrate the lives of people who were important to us. We’ll also light up the Trust’s festive decorations to symbolise the happiness our lost loved ones brought to us and remind us to celebrate their lives. Guests can join us for refreshments and to view our new the photographic display.
None of this would have been possible without the generous donations from our ‘Light up a Life’ partners. The suppliers we would like to thank are:
- Cake Box Low Fell
- Tiny Acorn
- Gateshead Camera club
- Square Peg
- Birtley Rotary Club
- Chester-le-street Rotary Club
- QE Facilities Catering
We hope that you will join us for this special event and look forward to bringing together the Gateshead Community.
